The old Oliva Artés factory building is the new location of Barcelona’s History Museum. The project sets out to exploit the building’s spatial quality and entice visitors in. Our proposal frees up the former factory floor to highlight its ¡ basilica structure, thereby maximizing flexibility and exhibition floor space, and introduces an outer entrance porch to ease transition from the gardens into the museum. The intervention employs sheet iron, in keeping with the existing structural elements, which makes its way into the interior with the construction of all the features needed to adapt the space.
