"Creating Impact Together" – this guiding principle is embodied in every aspect of the new Labs Campus in Garching, near Munich. Located close to the prestigious research campus of the Technical University of Munich (TUM), one of Europe’s largest software companies has created a state-of-the-art, 19,000 m² facility that combines office, meeting, and research spaces.

Sustainable Design for the Digital Future
The project aimed to create an inspiring and flexible work environment for nearly 800 employees that promotes interdisciplinary exchange and research. The close collaboration with the Technical University of Munich, which has nine chairs and 120 employees represented on the campus, focuses on the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in the fields of environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG) as well as quantum computing.

The largely public ground floor, featuring a café and an Experience Center, enhances the academic spirit, inviting employees, visitors, and partners to engage with emerging technological developments.

Designed by SCOPE Architekten, the building was constructed to the highest international sustainability standards and awarded the "KlimaKulturKompetenz" certificate for energy efficiency and accessibility. Sustainability is a consistent theme throughout the project, from the architecture and construction methods to the materials and systems employed.

Lindner Group: Expertise in the Lab of the Future
The Lindner Group played a crucial role in the interior design of the building, particularly in the office areas. Custom-made glass and wood partition walls not only provide effective spatial separation but also ensure a pleasant acoustic environment thanks to high sound insulation. Matching aluminium frame doors complement the modern interior aesthetic.

To meet stringent fire protection requirements, Lindner Life Fire glass partition walls in fire resistance class F90 were used. The continuous, transparent wall system combines the desire for visual openness with maximum safety, ensuring reliable protection in case of fire. Various wood tones for doors and wall claddings add warm accents to the predominantly grey concrete walls and ceilings, combined with dark wall profiles.

Innovative Construction Concepts for Modern Workspaces
In addition to the glass and wooden partition walls, the Lindner Group was responsible for installing dry construction walls and ceilings, as well as implementing 10,000 m² of FLOOR and more® raised floor systems with various floor coverings. The dry raised floor stands out not only for its excellent acoustic and fire protection properties but also for its versatility.

For the design of the staircases and inviting seating steps in the atrium and lecture hall, Lindner utilised its proprietary LinCrete fibre-reinforced concrete – a highly durable material with versatile design possibilities.
Matching expanded metal ceilings throughout the building underscore the modern design ethos of the Labs Campus, adding a contemporary aesthetic to the spaces. The Lindner Group’s contributions also included steel and metal construction, tiling, painting, and plastering work, rounding out the comprehensive interior design package.

With its open architecture, sustainable construction, and flexible space design, the campus exemplifies the future of workspaces – a place where innovations emerge and digital transformation is driven forward.
