Office Renovation

In 2019, Hosoya Schaefer was asked to renovate the top floor of an existing office building built in 1999 in Zug. The site is located next to Hosoya Schaefer’s masterplan, Tech Cluster Zug. The client’s wish was to generate minimum and timeless atmosphere but also comfortable and aesthetically compelling.

Prior to renovation, the existing configuration created a lot of closed space and didn’t make a good impression on visitors. Furthermore, the client was undergoing organizational changes and the new office needed to accommodate a lot more working space for new employees.

In response, it was chosen to highlight the building’s attribute – symmetrical plan, exposed concrete columns and ceiling. Natural and industrial materials for walls, floors, ceilings, and stairs were used as much as possible. The new walls, including the kitchen, are made from special eco-friendly OSB boards. The stairs leading up to the rooftop terrace were designed in steel in close collaboration with both structural engineer and builder.
