The third World Expo to take place in Japan—following Expo 1970 Osaka and Expo 2005 Aichi—Expo 2025 Osaka Kansai is centered around the theme “Designing Future Society for Our Lives.” The Expo grounds, an artificial island in Osaka Bay, were master-planned by Sou Fujimoto, who also designed the Grand Ring, a 2-kilometer (1.25-mile) timber structure topped by a park. Although the structure is so big it is already in the Guinness Book of World Records as the largest wooden structure in the world, it cannot contain every pavilion and other venues the Expo has to offer. Needless to say, the Japan-Architects crew had their work cut out for them, and they suitably covering the event in three long articles with plenty of photographs and a few videos. Here we present a smattering of their coverage, presented by types: Signature Pavilions, Domestic Pavilions, National Pavilions, and Expo Facilities.
