Rosewood München
Munich, Germany
Rosewood Munich lies in the centre of Munich's old town. The first German establishment of the Rosewood Hotels & Resorts collection was opened in 2023 and combines a luxury hotel business with locality. This has resulted in a "distinctive Munich flair". This is characterised by landmark architecture with modern interior design, arts and crafts and sculptures from the region as well as collaborations with regional farms to supply the ingredients for the kitchen.
The hotel was formed by the harmonious fusion of two historic buildings in the heart of Munich's old town - the former headquarters of the Bavarian State Bank in Kardinal-Faulhaber-Straße 1 and the Palais Neuhaus-Preysing in Prannerstraße 2. This has succeeded in creating a symbiosis of neo-baroque and rococo which reflects the history of the area. The Munich architectural practice Hilmer Sattler Architects Ahlers Albrecht carried out the extensive restoration, building and conservation work in cooperation with the London-based interior design company Tara Bernerd & Partners. Particular significance was placed on preserving historical elements: the ornate facades and the Preysing Hall were retained, the historic staircase and vestibule on Kardinal-Faulhaber-Straße now serves as a main entrance and leaves behind architectural reminders of the former bank. The vibrant interior of the restaurant and the exclusive bar comes from DiPPOLD Interior Design Studio, Munich.
Rosewood Munich covers 20,000 m² and has 78 rooms and 59 suites of 40 to 250 m², which combine modern design with Bavarian charm. There are five "houses" which are named after the Bavarian royal family Wittelsbach and offer exclusively furnished suites with up to four bedrooms. There is also a brasserie and bar, a meeting and conference area for up to 400 people as well as a spa facility with treatment rooms, an indoor pool and fitness area.
Tara Bernerd & Partners from London designed the interior of the rooms, suites and houses as well as the lobby, palace courtyard and spa. With high-quality materials such as velvet, tweed and leather, they created a design in the individual guest rooms which links historical grandeur with contemporary refinement. The elegant switches and sockets from JUNG's LS 990 range in antique brass are fittingly used and likewise represent a symbiosis of modern design with a historic feel. An ideal combination for the elegant guest rooms.
Rosewood Munich combines the architectural magnificence of past eras with modern luxury to provide a stylish hotel experience in the heart of Munich.
