In the De Hoge Veluwe national park, an extraordinary architectural project was implemented by i 29 architects & Namo Architecture on the Buitenplaats Koningsweg - a former barracks which serves today as a location for artist and creatives. Under the motto "Camouflage", eleven experimental holiday homes have been created here which stand out due to their subtle integration in the landscape.

Based on the archetypal image of a bird house, the so-called "Buitenverblijf Nest" is a compact building which rests on slim, dark steel struts and is characterised by a staggered, three-storey structure, This layering creates not only significant capacity but also additional space for ecological elements such as nesting boxes in the facade. The dark wood panelling supports the integration in the forested area, while large and round windows offer a view of nature. You are literally located between the treetops and can look over the surrounding area without any interruptions.

The interior of the room is designed functionally and efficiently. The kitchen and living area are located at a height of around eight metres and have an adjoining terrace which is illuminated by the sun both in the mornings and evenings. The compact floor plan is used optimally with space-saving solutions such as storage on the stairs. A mezzanine floor houses the bathroom while there is a spacious sleeping area for four people on the upper floor. Clear views and ceiling-high sliding units amplify the feeling of openness and closeness to nature.

The tree house was developed with the goal of linking sustainable construction with a high-quality living. A well insulated building, fully electric installations and photovoltaic modules on the roof ensure energy-efficient use. Matching the reduced design, the JUNG LS 990 range in white was chosen for the switches and sockets throughout the house. With its clear design and timeless colour scheme, it is harmoniously integrated in the overall concept.
